October 24, 2016

Hello Parents,

Thank you for partnering with me in making this first quarter of 5th grade a successful one!

*We will need clear (see-through) 2 liter bottles for our ecosystems lessons next quarter.  Please start collecting those and send them in when we track back in.

Here is a link to 2nd Quarter Curriculum Maps Website with links to 2nd Quarter Curriculum Guide

As you travel with your 5th grader I encourage discussing the various types of ecosystems. Ie. We live in Deciduous Forest, the beach is a Marine Ecosystem, and others you might think of (see the link referenced above for the various types).

When we track in, I will check report cards as they are turned in for conference request and I can set those up for November.

Have a safe and fun track out.

2nd quarter resumes on Monday, October 24th.

Today we had math conferences and each child had a chance to see  and learn their strengths and weaknesses. I also passed out anchor charts/ study guides for each of the math content areas we discussed. They are glued into Math Learning Logs aka Math Notebooks. Classroom remedial assessments (each kids knows exactly which objective they need to practice as I had them write it into the notebooks by the goal and the name for it) will take place next Tuesday. Here are some additional links for practice, as promised:

5.NBT.4: Rounding Decimals

5.NBT.5 : Standard multiplication

5.NBT.6: Standard division

5.NBT.7 Adding and Subtracting Decimals:

Hi parents! We are in need of several volunteers to help with boosterthon collection. The work is simple, just entering pledges collected into the system. It shouldn't take more than an hour and laptops will be provided. Any and all help is appreciated! Link below to sign up.

Thank you!
